Directional Drilling & Service Relocation Early Works
Bench Directional Drilling & Civil was engaged to undertake early works for the Torrens to Darlington tunnelling project – part of South Australia’s largest infrastructure initiative to upgrade South Road into a continuous non-stop north south corridor.
This phase focused on relocating underground services to prepare for tunnel construction. Our team carried out horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and worked around existing utilities in a busy, built-up environment.
Key activities included:
- Completed precision HDD under live infrastructure
- Moving and protecting key services like water, power and communications
- Coordination alongside civil contractors and utility owners
- Marking and mapping services for future tunnelling
The team successfully navigated limited access and complex service environments, ensuring compliance, safety and timeline adherence.
